The CRI Irvington Postdoctoral Fellowship 2021-2022 is a fully-funded scholarship for international students. This scholarship is offered for postdoctoral research.

This scholarship provides up to $59,000 per year and a benefit of $1,500 per year to help pay for a colleague’s research materials, travel to scientific meetings, and/or health insurance.

At major universities and study centers around the world, the CRI Irvington Postdoctoral Fellowship Program promotes skilled young researchers with instruction in basic immunology or immunology for cancer treatment.

The postdoctoral fellowship encourages skilled young researchers at the world’s largest universities and resettlement centers to receive training in immunology and the basics of cancer immunology.

Scholarship coverage

The CRI Irvington Postdoctoral Fellowship Program provides beneficiaries with the following benefits:
Recent scholarships award a scholarship of $ 55,000 in the first year, $ 57,000 in the second year, and $ 59,000 in the third year.

In addition, the host institution is awarded a grant of $ 1,500 per year to be used at the sponsor’s discretion to help pay for colleague’s research materials, travel to scientific meetings and / or health insurance.

Eligibility criteria for CRI Irvington postdoctoral fellowships

To be eligible for the CRI Irvington Postdoctoral Fellowship Program, the following points must be considered:

  • Required languages: English.
  • Eligible countries: all countries of the world.
  • Applicants for the CRI Irvington Postdoctoral Fellowship Program must add areas directly associated with immunology or cancer immunology. An eligible project must be part of a broad field of immunology that addresses the problem of cancer.
  • Applicants must have a doctorate by the date of the award activation and must perform the proposed research with a sponsor who features a formal appointment to the host institution.
  • Applicants with 5 years or more of relevant post-doctoral experience aren’t eligible, apart from MD applicants, who shouldn’t include years of residence during this calculation.
  • Only in exceptional cases will applicants who have already spent 3 or more years within the sponsor’s laboratory by the beginning date of the fellowship be considered as a fellowship prize.
  • The scholarship can be made in the United States or abroad but must be in a non-profit institution. There are no citizenship restrictions.
  • Only one colleague from one sponsor can apply in each application round, and school sponsors might not have quite three CRI-supported fellows.

How do I apply for the CRI Irvington Postdoctoral Fellowship Program?

(1) Fill in the official PDF application form. Fill out the form, print it, and get signatures for Institutional Certificates. Signatures will be required from the following persons:

  • Internal Review Board (IRB) or certifying officer who can certify that the proposal complies with government and institutional regulations.
  • The administrative staff of the institution.
  • Institution’s financial officer.

(2) Once the form has been completed, the online application form must be scanned as a PDF and uploaded with other supporting materials.

(3) The last page of the application to be uploaded contains the following supporting documentation in one PDF document in the following order:

  • The entire PDF application form, starting with the title page. Please make sure you have all the signatures for the third section.
  • Brief description of the applicant’s basic information and research achievements.
  • List of other sources of funding for which applications have been or will be submitted, with deadlines.

  • Applicant’s curriculum vitae and bibliography.
  • A brief summary of your project, including a description of how the proposed study is important for understanding the role of the immune system in the treatment of cancer and / or the treatment of cancer by immunological means.
  • A summary of the study in non-technical English explaining the significance of the proposed study and its potential clinical significance. (for fundraising purposes)
  • Short research proposal (background, meaning, specific objectives, materials, and methods) (maximum 6 pages, including tables and figures, without references).
  • A letter from the sponsor introducing the applicant and describing the sponsor’s qualifications to conduct the proposed study. The letter must include an assurance that the applicant’s project will be implemented under the direct supervision of the sponsor.
  • Curriculum vitae/biography of the sponsor, bibliography (limit the bibliography to the last 5 years or publications related to the proposed research), and a list of the sponsor’s current research support.
  • Two letters of recommendation are required. One letter must be from the applicant’s dissertation consultant. The second letter must be from a person who is well acquainted with the applicant’s work. The sponsor may not submit one of these letters. If the sponsor was also the applicant’s dissertation advisor, you should contact the CRI for further guidance.
